MADISON, N.J. (April 19, 2017) – The Drew University women's tennis team remained undefeated in the Landmark Conference and clinched a 2017 home playoff match with a 7-2 win over The University of Scranton at home on Wednesday evening.
Drew wins its 12
th dual match in a row in the process, improving to 12-1 overall, 5-0 in the conference and 5-1 in Madison. The Royals fall to 5-7 and 2-2 in league play. The Rangers will host a Landmark Conference Championships semifinal on Wednesday, May 3, marking their first league postseason appearance since 2012.

Maria Navas Espinal all were victorious at both singles in doubles to help the Rangers secure the win.

Cristina Riccio winning 8-5 at third doubles, Navas Espinal and Cheng teaming for an 8-3 triumph at the No. 2 spot, and Witten combining with freshman
Ashley Camel for the 8-6 victory at first doubles.
Scranton stayed alive in singles play by taking wins at the Nos. 1 and 4 slots, before Witten and Cheng finished their matches to clinch the team victory. Witten breezed at second singles, 6-1, 6-4, while Cheng fought hard in a second-set tiebreaker to go over 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
Navas Espinal took fifth singles with a strong performance in a first-set tiebreak, 7-6 (7-2), before closing out the straight-set win with a 6-2 score in the second. Senior
Megan Jarvis won her eighth consecutive match, the longest streak on the Rangers, at the No. 6 singles spot (6-4, 6-4) to ice the duel.
The Rangers will fight for the No. 1 overall seed in the Landmark Conference Championships in May with two matches remaining on the schedule for this weekend. Drew hosts Juniata College on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m. and Susquehanna University on Sunday, April 23 at 1 p.m. Both Juniata and Susquehanna are winless in Landmark Conference play this season.
