MADISON, N.J. - Juniors
Stephanie Cushman and
Mal Vishwanath won three events apiece as the Drew University women's swimming and diving team came away with a split in a tri-meet on Saturday at Kirby Pool.
The Rangers (1-3) earned their first victory of the season with a 184-109 win over Marywood University. Drew lost by a count of 170-126 to Susquehanna University, the defending Landmark Conference champions.
Cushman prevailed in the 100-backstroke (1:01.50), the 200-backstroke (2:15.00), and the 200-IM (2:22.20) while Vishwanath claimed the 200-freestyle (56.63), 100-freestyle (54.52), and the 500-freestyle (5:16.68). Vishwanath won by nearly six seconds in the 200 and over 11 seconds in the 500.
Freshman
Sydney Everhart also captured a victory for Drew, leading a 1-2 finish in hte 200-butterfly. She touched first in 2:19.70 while junior
Katie Jefferson was second in 2:21.88. In addition, Everhart took second in the 100-butterfly (1:02.69).
Freshman
Mackenzie Garcia Hynds also took second in the 50-freestyle (25.56), as did classmate
Abby Shapiro in the 1,000-freestyle (11:28.56).
The Rangers take two weeks off from competition before returning to the pool on Nov. 17, when they host Arcadia University and Elizabethtown College starting at 1 p.m.
