Women's Tennis Defeats Del Val

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Drew University women's tennis team began its spring season in earnest with a 6-3 victory at Delaware Valley University on Wednesday.

Competing for the first time since March 8, the Rangers led 2-1 after doubles, then won four of its six singles matches. Junior Ashley Camel and freshman Marwa Elessaway won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles while junior Sarah Noel Jeune and freshman Kate Gangi won 8-3 at No. 3.

The Rangers captured the top-two singles flights, with Camel sweeping her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Junior Cristina Riccio also won at No. 2 singles, as did Elessaway at No. 4 and Gangi at No. 5. 

Drew (5-4) plays its Landmark Conference opener on Saturday, when it visits Goucher College at 1 p.m.
