MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 Landmark Conference victory over Susquehanna University on Sunday at the Drew Tennis Complex. With the win, the Rangers improved to 7-6 and 2-2 in the conference while the River Hawks dropped to 5-7 and 0-4 in conference play.
Drew opened the match by winning 8-2 in all three doubles flights, receiving victories from junior
Maria Navas Espinal and
Cristina Riccio at No. 1, junior
Ashley Camel and freshman
Marwa Elessaway at No. 2, and junior
Christina Christodoulou and freshman
Kate Gangi at No. 3.
All six players also took the court for singles action. Camel improved to 3-1 in the Landmark Conference with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 while Riccio stayed perfect (4-0) in conference play with a 7-5, 6-0 triumph. Navas Espinal breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 while Elessaway hiked her conference record to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Christodoulou contributed a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5 while Gangi prevailed 6-2, 6-2.
The Rangers pick up their Landmark Conference schedule on Wednesday, when they host the University of Scranton at 3:30 p.m.
