HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Drew University women's tennis team closed out its Spring Break trip to Hilton Head with an 8-1 loss at the hands of Roanoke College.
The score was deceiving as the Maroons won three of the six singles matches in a tiebreaker.
The Rangers (6-3) finished 1-2 on the trip while having three matches rained out or canceled.
Earning Drew's lone victory on the day was senior
Maria Navas Espinal, who prevailed 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.Â
Senior
Ashley Camel saw her 11-match winning streak to open the season come to an end with a tough 6-1, 2-6, 10-8 loss at No. 1.
Freshmen
Sanne Bloemendaal 6-0, 6-7 (3-7), 10-1 and
Danielle DelRosso (6-3, 4-6, 11-9) battled to a tiebreaker at Nos. 2-5 singles, respectively.
The Rangers are off until March 21, when they travel to Ursinus in a non-conference match starting at noon.
