MADISON, N.J. - Freshman
Amira Hadri had a hand in a pair off school records to lead the Drew University women's swimming & diving team on the opening night of the Landmark Conference Virtual Championships on Friday evening in F.M. Kirby Pool.
The championship is being held at four different sites - Catholic, Drew, Juniata, and Scranton. After the diving events are held next weekend, the results of the championship will be merged and team champions will be announced the week of March 8.
The Rangers, competing for the first time since Feb. 16 of last season, opened the meet in impressive fashion, as Hadri, sophomore
Katie Cashin, junior
Sydney Everhart, and junior
Mackenzie Garcia Hynds clocked a 1:49.86, edging the former mark of 1:50.05 set in 2019.
Cashin followed up by finishing first among the Rangers in the 500-freestyle, churning out a 5:13.74 while dropping 20 seconds from her best time in the event last season.
Sophomore
Alex Edwing was Drew's lone competitor in the women's 200-IM, and she finished in 2:17.07.
Hadri followed up with her second record, this time in the 50-freestyle. She touched in 24.33 seconds to better the former mark of 24.41 set by Jenny Stein C'18 in 2017 while finishing just in front of Garcia Hynds (23.37).
The Rangers closed the night with the 800-freestyle relay, as freshman
Charlotte Wells, Everhart, freshman
Abbey Sutzko, and Edwing finished in 8:20.95.
Drew closes out the swimming portion of the championships on Saturday, with sessions starting at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
