MADISON, N.J. - Senior
Sarah Racine scored the winning goal in the final game of her collegiate career, striking in the 82nd minute to lift the Drew University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Moravian College at Ranger Stadium.
The Rangers closed out their extended non-traditional season with a record of 3-1.
Sophomore
Ayla Lopez started Drew's goal when she came away with a low goal kick and flicked a quick pass to junior
Erin Fitzgerald on the left wing. Fitzgerald rolled a pass to Racine behind the defense, and the senior ripped a shot past the keeper and into the bottom-left corner of the net.
A pair of goalies shared the shutout for the Rangers. Sophomore
Anthi Panayides started and played the opening half before giving way to classmate
Angela Acceturo for the second period.
Drew's nine seniors were honored in a brief ceremony prior to the start of the contest.
After their official fall seasons were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in February the Landmark Conference Presidents' Council approved a plan for fall sports teams to conduct an expanded non-traditional season of up to four contests against fellow Landmark institutions.
The Landmark Conference determined that all of the contests are considered scrimmages and will not count as official NCAA or Landmark Conference games. In addition, Landmark standings will not be kept and official statistics will not be recorded.
