MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's lacrosse team will host Susquehanna University on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Landmark Conference (LC) Championship.
The Rangers (3-3, 3-3 LC) earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament while the River Hawks (3-4, 3-4 LC) are the No. 5 seed. The winner of the game will travel to top-seeded Catholic, which received a first-round bye, on Wednesday in the semifinals.
In the past, only the top-four teams in the final standings qualified for the Landmark Conference Championship, but due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, all seven teams who are competing in women's lacrosse this season will participate in this year's tournament.
Drew and Susquehanna will be meeting for the fifth time in the Landmark Conference playoffs, but for the first time since 2014. Each of their previous four LC postseason meetings have come in the semifinals, with Drew winning the first match-up in 2010 and the River Hawks prevailing three years in a row from 2012-14.
The Rangers will be competing in the Landmark Conference Championships for the 12th time in the 13 years in which a tournament has been held. Last year's championship was canceled due to the pandemic.
Under Interim Head Coach
Kathleen Finnegan, Drew opened the season with a 21-8 victory at Elizabethtown College back on March 20 and also posted victories over Moravian (13-9) on March 31 and Juniata (19-9) on April 3. Drew and Susquehanna did not meet in the regular this year and have not faced off since March 30, 2019, when the Rangers prevailed 19-7 in Madison.
