Women's Tennis Edged by Blue Jays

MORRISTOWN, N.J. -  The Drew University women's tennis team was edged by a final of 5-4 in a Landmark Conference (LC) women's tennis match versus Elizabethtown College on Saturday at Saint Elizabeth University.

Junior Marwa Elessawy and sophomore Danielle DelRosso each went 2-0 on the day to lead the Rangers (1-1, 1-1 LC).

The Blue Jays (3-4, 3-4 LC) led 2-1 after the doubles competition. Elessawy and DelRosso provided Drew with its first point of the match by virtue of an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles.

The two sides split the six singles contests, with the Rangers winning at the Nos. 2-4 spots. Freshman Melina Christodoulou won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 while DelRosso prevailed 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0 at No. 3. Elessawy earned a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at No. 4. 

The Rangers return to play on Sunday, when they host Susquehanna University at 1 p.m. in another Landmark Conference tilt back at Saint Elizabeth.
