Women's Tennis Captures Tight Win Over Susquehanna

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Drew University women's tennis team pulled out a close 5-4 victory over Susquehanna University in a Landmark Conference (LC) match-up on Sunday at Saint Elizabethtown University.

The Rangers (2-1, 2-1 LC) received two victories apiece from freshman Melina Christodoulou, junior Marwa Elessawy, and sophomore Danielle DelRosso.

Drew assumed a 2-1 lead following doubles competition. Christodoulou teamed up with sophomore Sanne Bloemendaal for an 8-3 win at No. 1 while DelRosso and Elessawy prevailed 8-3 at No. 2.

The two sides split the six singles matches, with the Rangers claiming the second through fourth flights. Christodoulou won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 while Elessawy rallied for a three-set, match-clinching victory (4-6, 7-5, 6-1) at No. 3. DelRosso earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4.

The Rangers return to action on Wednesday, when they visit the University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference makeup match starting at 4 p.m.
