MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University men's and women's tennis teams will each host a quarterfinal match in the Landmark Conference Championship tournament on Saturday at Saint Elizabeth University in Morristown, N.J.
The women's team finished the regular season 3-2 (3-2 LC) and earned the No. 4 seed. The Rangers will face No. 5 seed Susquehanna University (4-5, 4-4 LC) at noon.
Drew's men's squad captured the No. 1 seed after storming to a 7-0 record (7-0 LC). It will take on eighth-seeded Elizabethtown College (0-8, 0-8 LC) at approximately 3 p.m., or immediately following the conclusion of the women's match.
Both matches will be stopped once a team winner (five points won) has been determined.
The women's team will be facing Susquehanna for the second time in seven days, as the Rangers edged the River Hawks 5-4 this past Sunday. The men's team also faced its opponent recently, as Drew defeated Etown 8-1 this past Saturday.
With a victory, the women's team would advance to the semifinals and visit top-seeded Moravian College, which received a first-round bye, on Wednesday.
If the Ranger men win, they would move on to face the winner of the quarterfinal match between No. 4 Susquehanna and No. 5 Catholic. The men's semifinals will be held on Tuesday. All playoff matches will be held at the higher seed.
In the past, only the top four finishers in the Landmark Conference regular season qualified for the championships. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, every team will participate in this year's event.
The women's team will be making its first appearance in the Landmark Conference Championships since 2017 and is seeking its first LC playoff win since defeating Susquehanna in the semifinals on May 4, 2010 en route to winning the Landmark title.
Drew's men's team is also playing in the Landmark playoffs for the first time since 2017 and is looking for its first postseason victory since 2013, when the Rangers won the Landmark title for their 13th-straight conference crown.
