MENDHAM, N.J. - Freshman
Mike Ford earned his first collegiate victory, winning the FDU-Florham Fall Invitational while leading the Drew University men's golf team to the team title on Monday at the Mendham Golf and Tennis Club.
Competing in just his second collegiate match, Ford carded a 1-over 73, which ties the ninth-best round in program history. He won by five strokes, as New Jersey City's Evan Stoker took runner-up honors with a 78. Ford was extremely steady, shooting par on every hole but one.
As a team, the Rangers shot a 329 to beat out runner-up Mount Saint Mary College by 13 strokes while picking up their first team title since winning the Dickinson Invitational on Sept. 23, 2019.
Sophomore
Myles Cherry was Drew's second-best finisher, shooting an 81 to place fourth in the field of 43. He posted 10 pars and one birdie. Sophomore
Matvey Pangan tied for 13th with an 87 while senior
Brandon Talaska rounded out the team scoring, tying for 15th with an 88. Senior
Matthew Chang also competed tied for 35th with a 102. Pangan, Talaska, and Chang all birdied one hole as well.
The Rangers are back in action on Friday and Saturday, when they compete at the Arcadia Invitational, held at Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa.
