MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over two-time defending Landmark Conference champion Moravian University on Saturday at the Drew Tennis Complex.
Sophomore
Melina Christodoulou, freshman
Mary Kalorin, and junior
Danielle DelRosso picked up two victories apiece as the Rangers (5-8, 2-0 LC) defeated the Greyhounds for the first time since April 1, 2017. Drew also handed Moravian (7-2, 0-1) just its second loss of the season, which also marked its first setback to a Landmark Conference opponent since May 1, 2018 and its first regular-season conference loss since April 14, 2018.
Drew began the day by jumping to a 2-1 in doubles play. Christodoulou and Kalorin teamed up for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 while freshman
Courtney Bresler and DelRosso registered an 8-1 triumph at No. 3.
Christodoulou also won at first singles, prevailing 7-6 (6-1), 6-4, while Kalorin cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Junior
Sanne Bloemendaal rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 while DelRosso (6-1, 6-0) and senior
Kate Gangi (6-2, 6-2) won at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The Rangers are back in action next Saturday, when they visit Juniata College in another Landmark Conference match starting at 1 p.m.
