Sofiya Lebedeva and sophomore
Mary Kalorin combined to earn three victories, leading the Drew University women's tennis team on Friday during the opening day of the ITA Division III Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Hamilton College.

Lebedeva made her collegiate debut a successful one, posting a 3-0 record on the day while competing in the Main Draw in both singles and doubles. Seeded among the top-16 in a singles field of 64, she defeated Claire Cutler of Hamilton, 6-2, 6-1 before knocking off Beilynn Geiss of Skidmore 6-0, 6-0. She will now take on fourth-seeded Ida Krause of NYU on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. in the round of 16.

In doubles action, Lebedeva and Kalorin teamed up in the Main Draw to earn a tight 8-7 (7-5) win over Taylor Crain and Lauren Rodrigues of Ithaca. The pair will now face Jenny Landells and Charlotte Roarty of The College of New Jersey on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the round of 16.

Kalorin, the 2022 Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year, also competed in the Main Draw in singles but lost by a final of 6-3, 6-3 to Crain.

Natalia Zamora were all defeated in their first match.
