Cohen, Men’s Golf Win Drew Birdie Bash

FLANDERS, N.J. – Sophomore Avery Cohen claimed medalist honors and the Drew University men's golf "B" team continued its hot streak, winning the team title by one stroke at the Drew Birdie Bash on Wednesday at Flanders Golf Course.
 
The Rangers fired a 298 (+10) to just edge out another "B" squad from Stevens Institute. Drew now won its last four tournaments.
 
Drew also fielded a "C" team and tied for third among 12 teams with a 308.
 
Cohen, two days removed from taking runner-up honors at the Golden Oaks Shootout, fired his second straight sub-70 round on Wednesday, shooting a 3-under par 69. He birdied five holes and eagled the par-5 seventh hole en route to his first collegiate victory.
 
Senior Myles Cherry was the team's second finisher, placing in a four-way tie for third with a 74. He led the Rangers with five birdies on the day.
 
Sophomore Eric Castner finished in a four-way tie for 13th with a 77 while junior Ryan Ricci closed out the team scoring, tying for 17th with a 78. Ricci birdied three holes.

Junior Liam Larkin also competed for the B team and tied for 22nd with a 79.

Leading Drew's "C" team was freshman Brian Cotter, who birdied three holes and tied for third with a 74. Junior Max Conklin finished in a four-way tie for seventh with a 75 while sophomore Thomas Hurley tied for 13th with a 77. Junior Shiv Bhaskar rounded out the team score with an 82, placing him in a tie for 30th. Senior Ryan Firman also competed and took 42nd with an 84.
 
The Rangers continue their season on Monday and Tuesday at the West Pines Intercollegiate, hosted by Oglethorpe University at West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville, Ga.
