WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Led by medalist
Elliot Parker, the Drew University men's golf team captured its sixth title of the fall, winning by six strokes at The Melee on Sunday and Monday at Ford's Colony Country Club in Virginia.
It was the second title in four events this fall for Drew's primary squad, which also won Arcadia's Golden Oaks Shootout back on Sept. 28-29. The Rangers have also had a "B" team win four of the six events in which it has participated.
The Rangers fired an 8-over-par 584 (288-296), tying the second-best mark in team history for 36 holes. McDaniel College finished second in the field of 14 teams while Bridgewater (Va.) took third with a 608.
Parker collected his second plaque in four events this fall, shooting a 2-under 142 (71-71) to edge out McDaniel's Hogan Schulze by a single stroke. After opening with five birdies on Sunday, he followed up with three more on Monday while shooting par on 13 additional holes.
Sophomore
Avery Cohen was not far back, placing third in the field of 70 with a 147 (71-76). He finished the tournament with four birdies – two on each day.
Senior
Mike Ford also broke the top-10, as he finished in a three-way tie for sixth with a 149 (74-75). Sophomore
Thomas Hurley rounded out the team scoring, as he placed 16th with a 152 (78-74).
Freshman
Brian Cotter also competed and tied for 17th with a 153 (72-81).
The Rangers close out the fall portion of their season on Saturday and Sunday at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview, held at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Shawnee on Delaware, Pa.
