DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. – The Drew University men's golf team completed the opening two rounds of the West Pines Intercollegiate, a highly-competitive 54-hole tournament hosted by Oglethorpe University on Monday at the West Pines Golf Club.
The tournament was suspended due to darkness with numerous individuals several holes shy of completion.
In the current incomplete standings, the Rangers are tied for ninth place in the field of 20 teams after shooting 598 (303-295) over the first 36 holes.
Leading the way for the Rangers is junior
Elliot Parker, who is tied for second in the field of 105. He opened with a 2-under-par 140 (71-69) and trails individual leader Evan Eichenlaub of Babson College by just two strokes. In his first round of the day, Parker birdied four holes on an incredible front-9 in which he shot a 33. He also notched four birdies on the back-9 of his final round in which he carded a 34 and finished the day with 10 birdies.
Sophomore
Avery Cohen and junior
Ryan Ricci are currently tied for 49th after each golfer carding a 152. Both players opened with a 79 before finishing with a 73.
Rounding out the team scoring for the Rangers was senior
Myles Cherry, who has shot a 154 (74-80) thus far and fired an eagle on the par-5, 17th hole in his second round.
In addition, senior
Mike Ford is in action and opened with a 164 (80-84).
The third and final round will be held back at West Pines on Tuesday.
