MADISON, N.J. – Following a highly-successful three-year tenure, Drew University Men's and Women's Golf Head Coach
John Manos has resigned, Director of Athletics
Christa Racine has announced.
Manos, who guided the Rangers to a pair of Landmark Conference team titles and numerous individual accolades, has accepted a role as the Head Women's Golf Coach at Division I Lehigh University.
In addition to his duties as golf coach, Manos served as the coordinator of the Drew athletic department's primary fundraising event, the annual Blue & Green Golf Outing.
"I have loved my time at Drew and could not be more appreciative," said Manos. "I want to thank Christa Racine and Brian Hirschberg for giving me this opportunity and allowing me to grow as a coach. I also want to thank Anne Callaghan and Casey Raleigh for making my job much easier and always supporting my efforts."
"I would like to thank John for his many contributions to the Ranger golf programs over the last three years," said Racine. "He has guided his teams to tremendous success on and off the course, and his work with the Blue & Green Golf Outing has benefited the entire Drew University Athletic Department. We wish him all the best as he continues his coaching career at Lehigh."
Manos arrived at the Forest prior to the 2021-22 season and in his first year at the helm, he led the Rangers to both the men's and women's Landmark Conference titles. In the process, both teams also earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championships. It was the first-ever conference title and NCAA appearance for the men's team.
Both programs continued to establish themselves as a top-tier program in the Landmark Conference over the last two seasons, with both the men's and women's squads finishing as the runner-up at the 2023 and 2024 conference championships.
Under Manos, both the men's and women's teams have established programs records for the lowest average in school, with the women's squad averaging a 345.7 in 2021-22 and the men's team posting a 303.1 in 2023-24.
On the individual level, Manos coached 10 student-athletes to 16 All-Landmark Conference distinction in recognition of a top-14 finish at the conference championship. On the men's side, Manos coached two conference champions – Lucas Artigliere C'23 in 2022 and
Elliot Parker C'26 in 2024. In addition, Manos coached Drew's first-ever golf All-American, as Parker captured Third-Team All-America distinction in both 2023 and 2024. In addition, Parker became the first Ranger to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships as an individual when he competed at the 2024 national tournament.
Manos also coached a conference champion on the women's side, as
Kayla Diaz C'24 claimed the Landmark crown in 2022. Diaz made her mark as a record-breaking performer throughout her time as a Ranger and in 2022 became the first Drew golfer to make the final cut at the NCAA Championships. She went on to post the top-finish in men's and women's team history at the national event during the same season, when she finished 17th among 151 competitors.
Off the course, Manos coached four women's competitors to 12 GCAA or WGCA All-America Scholar honors. In addition, he coached Nyah Sanders C'23, who earned the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year award for women's golf.
"The thing I am going to miss the most is the players on both of my teams," added Manos. "I couldn't have asked for anything more. We become a family over these last few years and I'm sad I'll no longer get to see them every day but I'm going to be their biggest fan from afar and always be there for them."
