YORK, Pa. – The Drew University men's swimming & diving team won four events but the Rangers came up on the short end of a tight 98.5-87.5 decision at York (Pa.) College in a dual meet Friday evening.
In the first-ever meeting between the Rangers and Spartans, junior
Nicholas Heinio-Widell (200-IM, 1:58.42), junior
Liam Gregory (500-freestyle, 4:56.56), and senior
Gabe Spivak (100-breaststroke, 59.57) claimed one victory apiece for Drew while senior
Brendan Burkett tied for first in the 50-freestyle (21.38). In addition, Heinio-Widell captured the 100-IM as an exhibition event (54.68).
Drew also placed second in six events: freshman
Marcell Hudak in the 100-butterfly (52.25) and 100-freestyle (1:47.33), Burkett in the 100-freestyle (47.67), sophomore
Hunor Harsanyi in the 100-breaststroke (1:00.07), sophomore
Issac Jeffers in the 500 (5:04.77), and senior
Ricky Kilichowski in the 100-backstroke (56.27).
The Rangers continue their season Nov. 7-8 at the NYU Invitational.
