2026 CSC Men's Swimming & Diving Academic All-District Team

MADISON, N.J. – Four members of the Drew University men's swimming & diving team have been recognized for their performance in the pool and in the classroom with their selections to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

Junior Kyle Talerico was honored with his first CSC Academic All-District award while sophomore Hunor Harsanyi, senior Nicholas Heinio-Widell, and sophomore Thiago Silva were honored with their first CSC Academic All-District award. Additionally, Heinio-Widell was chosen as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 29.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.

To be nominated for the CSC Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade-point average. They must also compete in 75 percent of their team's competitions or finish in the top-eight at a conference meet, or compete at a national championship. Each school may nominate a maximum of four student-athletes per gender for the CSC Academic All-America® program in swimming & diving.

Talerico, a Cybersecurity major, competed in six events at the Landmark Conference Championships and won his third consecutive conference title in the 200-butterfly, earning First Team All-Landmark Conference honors in the process. He also captured gold medals in the 200-freestyle relay, 800-freestyle relay, and 400 medley relay. He also took third in the 100-butterfly to capture All-Landmark Conference Honorable Mention. In addition, Talerico placed sixth in the 200-IM.

A Finance and Economics double major, Harsanyi captured First Team All-Landmark Conference honors by virtue of winning his second consecutive conference title in the 200-breaststroke this past season. He also garnered honorable mention all-conference recognition by finishing third in the 100-breaststroke. In addition, he placed fifth in the 200-IM.

Heinio-Widell, a Finance major who will graduate in three years, capped his Drew career with another spectacular season in which he earned the Landmark Conference Swimmer of the Year award for the third year in a row. He won all seven of his events (three individual, four relay) at the Landmark Conference Championship for the third straight season, and he lowered his own school, meet, and conference record with an NCAA B cut in the 100-butterfly. In addition, he helped both the 200- and 400-freestyle relay teams break meet records as well.

A Computer Science major, Silva earned First Team All-Landmark Conference honors by virtue of his five conference titles this past season, including his second straight gold medal in the 100-breaststroke. He also swam on the winning 200-medley, 200-freestyle, 400-freestyle, and 400-medley relays. In addition, he earned honorable mention all-conference recognition for his third-place finish in the 100-freestyle, and he placed fifth in the 50-freestyle as well.

The four helped the Rangers to a third-place finish at the Landmark Conference Championships this past season, where the Rangers accumulated 720 points – the second-highest scoring total in program history – and won 12 events, five more than any other school. In addition, Drew won all five relays for an incredible third year in a row.
