BALTIMORE – Senior Nicholas Heinio-Widell won his third consecutive Landmark Conference Men's Swimmer of the Year award, capping yet another tremendous performance to lead the Drew University men's swimming & diving team at the Landmark Championships, held Thursday through Sunday at Loyola University's Mangione Aquatic Center.

In addition, Head Coach Rich Munson and his staff earned the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year Award after leading the Rangers to a third-place finish in the team standings. The team accumulated 720 points – the second-highest scoring total in program history at the Landmark Conference Championships – and won 12 events, five more than any other school. In addition, the Rangers won all five relays for an incredible third year in a row.

For the third straight season, Heinio-Widell – a junior who is graduating in three years – won all seven of his events (three individual, four relay) and became just the third athlete to win the Landmark Conference Men's Swimmer of the Year award three times, joining Catholic's Gregory McCarthy (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) and Merchant Marine's Kevin Lindgren (2013, 2014, 2015). Heinio-Widell lowered his own school, meet, and conference record with an NCAA B cut in the 100-butterfly on Saturday, and he helped two different relay teams break meet records as well.

Catholic won the team title with 877.5 points while Scranton took seconds with a score of 770.

On Sunday, the Rangers won five events, including a record-setting victory in the 400-freestyle relay to close out the meet. Heinio-Widell, sophomore Thiago Silva, junior Liam Gregory, and senior Brendan Burkett teamed up to establish a new meet record with a time of 3:04.87.

Individually, four different Rangers captured a gold medal on Sunday. Gregory captured a victory in the 1650-freestyle, winning the event by over four seconds in 16:20.37.

Heinio-Widell was the next Ranger to stand atop the awards podium after claiming his third consecutive Landmark Conference title in the 100-freestyle (44.99), leading a 1-2-3 Drew sweep. In addition, sophomore Hunor Harsanyi became a repeat champion in the 200-breaststroke (2:06.68) before junior Kyle Talerico captured his third straight Landmark title in the 200-butterfly (1:51.19).

Burkett added a runner-up showing in the 100-freestyle (45.27) and finished his stellar career with 23 Landmark Conference medals.

Capturing one bronze medal each were senior Ricky Kilichowski in the 200-backstroke (1:55.65), Silva in the 100-freestyle (47.13), and senior Gabe Spivak in the 200-breaststroke (2:07.19).

Four additional Rangers competed in the championship finals on Sunday. Freshman Marcell Hudak placed fourth in the 100-butterfly (1:54.54), junior Christopher Guidi took fifth in the 100-butterfly (1:58.72), senior Nick Shaffer came in eighth in the 200-backstroke (1:59.42), and freshman Nate Osborne placed eighth in the 100-butterfly (1:58.72).

Also contributing to the team score were sophomore Will Spreeman, who placed 11th in the 1650 (17:32.98), and freshman Eric Friday, who placed 15th in the 100-freestyle (49.71).
