TOWSON, Md. – Following a record-breaking weekend, sophomore
Thiago Silva has been recognized as the Landmark Conference Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week.
Silva turned in an outstanding showing at the Ranger Invitational, winning five of his seven events (one individual, four relay) while helping Drew capture the team title. He won the 100-breaststroke (55.64), 200-medley relay (1:30.09), 400-medley relay (3:20.82), 200-freestyle relay (1:22.99), and 400-freestyle relay (3:05.03) and helped both medley relays break school, meet, and Landmark Conference records. He also lowered his own school and meet record in the 100-breast with a time that leads the Landmark Conference and ranks 30th in Division III. In addition, he helped Drew to conference-leading and nationally-ranked times in the 200-medley relay (No. 19), 400-medley relay (No. 23), 200-freestyle relay (No. 30), and 400-freestyle relay (No. 37). Silva also took second in the 100-freestyle (46.49) and third in the 50-freestyle (21.17) with times that place him third on the conference leaderboard in each event.
The Rangers are off from competition until Jan. 17, when they compete in a dual meet at Stevens Institute of Technology starting at 1 p.m.
