MAHWAH, N.J. – The Drew University women's track & field team earned one victory and 11 top-10 finishes at the Ramapo University Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Leading the way was junior
Emily Camlet, who won the 400-meter dash. An indoor national qualifier in the event this past winter, she beat out 42 competitors and won by over two seconds with a time of 57.65 seconds.
Camlet also bumped up to the 800-meter run and placed fourth in a field of 34 with a school-record time of 2:28.45.
Sophomore
Sage Hendershot added a runner-up finish in the long jump. After taking Honorable Mention All-America honors in the event with a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships earlier this month, she soared 5.49 meters (18- 1/4) to place second out of 28 competitors. She finished a mere two inches behind event winner D'Jior Delisser of Division II New Haven while lowering her own school record.
Hendershot also came in eighth out of 57 sprinters in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.54 seconds.
Finishing third was senior
Mazzy Cirinelli, who leaped 1.53 meters (5- 1/4) while taking on 21 competitors in the high jump. In addition, she placed 13th out of 24 competitors in the javelin (24.72m, 81-1).
Also cracking the top-10 were sophomore
Lauryn Brown, who placed fourth in the triple jump (10.83m, 35-6 1/2) and sixth in the long jump (5.16m, 16-11 1/4); sophomore
Lauren Rizzolo, who came in fifth among 30 competitors in the hammer (31.57m, 103-7) and took sixth in the javelin (28.43m, 93-3); and freshman
April Kusnier, who placed sixth in a field of 34 in the 800-meter run (2:31.51) and 10th in the 5,000-meter run (19:41.22).
In addition, junior
Dejanayha Hill placed 12th in the hammer, as did freshman
Deborah Wang in the 800 (2:37.26). Sophomore
Sarah Hattan added an 13th-place showing in the 800 (2:38.97). Also, in the 1,500-meter run, senior
Caitlin Mulvey placed 15th in a field 35 while freshman was 17th in 5:31.00.
In the relays, the 4x100 squad of Hendershot, Brown, junior
Matasia Christopher, and Camlet were timed at a school-record 50.41 seconds.
The Rangers continue their season on Friday and Saturday at the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival.
