BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore
Lauryn Brown placed third in the triple jump to lead the Drew University women's track & field team at the Lehigh's Carol and John Covert Classic on Saturday.
Competing in a field of 14 Division I, II, and III opponents, Brown leaped 11.52 meters (37-9 1/2) to finish first among Division III athletes. Her jump was just shy of her season-best and Landmark Conference-leading mark of 11.55 meters (37-10 3/4).
Brown also placed 10th in a field of 27 in the long jump with a mark of 5.16 meters (16-11 1/4).
Also in the long jump, sophomore
Sage Hendershot placed seventh with a leap of 5.36 meters (17-7).
Other top performances for the Rangers were posted by freshman
April Kusnier, who placed 17th among 42 competitors in the 800-meter run (2:27.37) to finish second among Division III opponents; senior
Caitlin Mulvey, who was 24th out of 36 runners in the 1,500 (5:31.10); and sophomore
Lauren Rizzolo, who came in 21st in a field of 30 in the hammer (38.06m, 124-10).
The Rangers return to action May 3-4 at the Landmark Conference Championships, hosted by Susquehanna University.
