INDIANAPOLIS – Sophomore Sage Hendershot has made history once again for the Drew University track & field program.

Hendershot was among the athletes selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, the NCAA announced Friday evening. She made the cut in the long jump and in the process, became Drew's first-ever national qualifier in outdoor track & field.

With a season-best jump of 5.94 meters (19-6), Hendershot will enter the national championship seeded 11th (tied) among 22 athletes selected in the event.

The meet will be held May 22-24 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The women's long jump is scheduled to be held on the opening day starting at 5:30 p.m.

Hendershot and teammate Emily Camlet (400 meters) became Drew's first-ever national qualifiers when the two earned a spot to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships this past March at Nazareth University. There, Hendershot placed 16th in the long jump to become the first All-American in Drew track & field history, earning second-team status.

Hendershot captured her second Landmark Conference title this past spring, winning the long jump with her season-best mark of 5.94 meters, which is also a Drew and Landmark Conference record. She has placed first or second in four of her seven outdoor meets this year, has won the event three times, and has jumped over 18 feet on three occasions. Hendershot also won the Landmark Conference indoor long jump title this past winter.

The Rangers are competing in just their second year as a varsity track & field program under Head Coach Sean Robinson.
