Women’s XC Places Second at Ranger Invitational

CLARK, N.J. – The Drew University women's cross country finished second out of five teams at the Ranger XC Invitational on Friday at Oak Ridge Park.
 
The Rangers posted a team score of 57, finishing behind only Scranton (23). FDU-Florham (83), Goucher (87), and Lycoming (113).
 
The meet served as a preview of sorts for the Landmark Conference Championships, which will be held at the same location on Nov. 1.
 
For the second week in a row, senior Annelise Wade was Drew's top finisher, as she placed fifth among 41 harriers. On an extremely hot and humid day, she was timed at 21 minutes, 39 seconds. Junior Skyler McGuire was close behind, taking sixth in 21:54.
 
Junior Sarah Hattan followed for the Rangers, placing 11th in 22:57. Competing the team score were sophomore Perri Rubin, who placed 15th in 23:32, and junior Sophia Kim, who took 23rd in 24:11. Sophomore Isabella Fortunato also competed and placed 28th in 24:44.
 
Scranton's Emily Hopkins captured the race in 19:58.
 
The Rangers continue their season Sept. 20, when they compete at the Delaware Valley Invitational.
