Aubrey Welch scored her 100th career point and the Drew University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 21-6 victory at St. Joseph's-Long Island in its season opener on Friday.
Nine different players scored a goal for Drew, and five different Rangers netted at least three goals.
Welch reached her milestone with her final point of the game – the final goal of the first half that gave the Rangers a 13-4 lead at the break.

Welch netted the game's first two goals to put the Rangers up 2-0 before the Eagles scored three unanswered to go in front. But that's when Drew erupted for a 10-0 run to assume a 12-3 advantage with 2:59 remaining in the opening half. Strong scored three times over the decisive stretch while Lowe and Patane each tallied twice.
The Eagles scored the first two goals of the second half make it 13-6, but the Rangers closed the game on a 9-0 surge that included two goals each from Scotti and Patane.
Drew continues its season on Saturday, when it hosts Vassar College at 3 p.m. in a non-conference affair.
