Musial Selected to MBWA Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK – For the second time this season, senior forward David Musial of the Drew University men's basketball team has been named to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II/III Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Tuesday.
 
It was the second weekly award for Musial, who was also recognized as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week.
 
Musial posted two double-doubles and averaged 21.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting an incredible 73.7% (14-for-19) from the field and 85.7% (12-for-14) at the foul line in a 2-0 week for the Rangers.
 
He recorded a tremendous showing this past Saturday in a 107-93 victory at Lycoming in which he nearly achieved a triple-double, finishing with career-highs of 30 points and eight assists to go with 14 rebounds and four steals. He netted 20 of his points in the final 8:07 and scored 12 straight points for Drew at one point, powering Drew to a game-breaking run. In the second half alone, he registered 25 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals as Drew outscored Lycoming 66-45 in the period. For the game, he shot 10-for-13 from the field, including 2-for-4 from 3-point range, and 8-for-8 at the foul line.
 
Musial also logged 12 points and 10 rebounds this past Wednesday in a 79-65 victory over Scranton, which is receiving votes in the current D3hoops.com Top-25 poll.
 
For the season, Musial leads the Rangers in numerous statistical categories, including rebounding (8.3 rpg), assists (2.9 apg), steals (2.4 spg), and blocks (0.9 bpg). He is also Drew's fourth-leading scorer, averaging 10.2 points per night. Among the Landmark Conference leaders, Musial ranks second in rebounding and third in steals.
 
The MBWA media panel selects one men's and one women's player of the week and an honor roll from nominations received for Division I schools, plus one men's and one women's player of the week and an honor roll from nominations received for Division II and III schools combined. The Division II/III designation encompasses players from 45 Met area schools.
 
The Rangers (15-4, 9-3 LC) return to action on Wednesday, when they visit Elizabethtown College at 7 p.m. in a Landmark Conference affair.
