Henri Degremont and sophomore epee
Lupo Sala each captured a medal to lead the Drew University men's fencing team to a sixth-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) Championships on Sunday in Drew's Simon Forum.
The Rangers finished with 74 victories to place in front of Lafayette (58), Navy (52), Rutgers (45), William & Mary (40), Army (33), Maryland (26), Yeshiva (25), and Hunter (15). Johns Hopkins captured the title with 106 victories and was followed by NJIT (89), Cornell (89), Stevens (85), and Haverford (82).
Drew finished fifth in both foil and sabre and seventh in epee.
Degremont tied for third place to capture his second career All-MACFA honor, as he also placed seventh in 2024. He opened the day by going 10-3 in the team competition, earning the No. 6 seed in the individual direct-elimination round. He opened with a 15-11 win over No. 11-seeded Julian Detering of NJIT, then followed up with a thrilling 15-14 upset over No. 3 Charles Bing of Cornell in the quarterfinals. Fencing to the thunderous cheers of his teammates, he rallied from a 14-9 deficit, scoring six unanswered points to end the bout. In the semifinals, Degremont took on No. 2 Josh Sima of Johns Hopkins, who recorded a 15-8 victory.
Sala finished in eighth place in epee. He started the day by going 8-5 in the team competition and was awarded the No. 8 seed in individual segment. Sala opened with a 15-13 victory over No. 9 Ryan Leibowitz of Lafayette before his day came to an end with a 15-2 loss to No. 1 Paul Veltrup of NJIT.
Junior
Logan Kleva also advanced to the individual championship in sabre and finished in 11th place. After a 6-6 showing in the team competition, he earned the No. 11 seed in the individual portion and lost a close 15-12 decision to No. 6 Ryan Rauscher of William & Mary in the opening round.

Will Morton went 7-6 in epee, and sophomore
Jason Ahlman was 6-6 in sabre. On the C strip, sophomore
Paul Greenleaf posted a 10-3 mark in foil, sophomore
Nicolas Machado finished 9-3 in sabre, and senior
Eddie Matto was 6-6 in epee.
The Rangers now compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Region Championship on Saturday at Haverford College.
