Sala, Koyfman Capture Postseason Honors From USFCA

MADISON, N.J. – Sophomore Lupo Sala and freshman Ben Koyfman, epees on the Drew University men's fencing team, have been recognized with postseason honors from the United States Fencing Coaching Association (USFCA).
 
Sala was honored as a USFCA Second Team Division III All-American. In addition, both Sala and Koyfman were named to the USFCA Mid-Atlantic/South All-Region Division III Team.
 
Sala is the fourth Ranger to be selected as an All-American over the last four years and the first since foilisst Michael DeSando C'25 was named a Division III Honorable Mention in 2024. In addition, epee Julio Arias C'24 was tabbed a Division III First Team All-American in 2023, when foilist Henri Degremont captured honorable mention recognition.
 
Sala was one of just nine Division III All-Americans selected in epee. Meanwhile, he and Koyfman represented two of the four all-region selections in epee.
 
Throughout the season, Sala compiled an individual record of 60-15. He turned in a strong performance at the MACFA Championships, where he captured the eighth-place medal, before posting Drew's top finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic South Region Championships, where he placed 17th. He also placed 10th at the Temple University Nikki Franke Classic and finished 24-5 at the Drew Invitational, 8-2 at the Vassar Invitational, 13-2 at a MACFA "A vs. B" event, and 10-2 at the Brandeis Invitational.
 
Koyfman turned in an impressive debut campaign, accumulating a 31-13 record throughout the season. Like Sala, he was a regional qualifier and posted a 25th-place finish in his championship debut. In addition, he went 8-2 at the Drew Invitational, 10-7 at the Vassar Invitational, 6-3 at the MACFA "A vs. B", and 7-1 at the Brandeis Invitational.
 
As a team, the Rangers posted another strong performance at the MACFA Championships, placing sixth among 14 teams. Drew also finished with a dual-match record of 25-22 throughout the season.
