MAHWAH, N.J. (November 6, 2010) - Freshman
Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks) made a huge splash in her first collegiate meet placing first in two individual events and anchoring the top-finishing 200 medley relay.
Schwinger, teamed up with
Jess Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield),
Jasmine Prokscha(Washington, Conn./Kent) and
Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonee Hall Academy) and won the first event of the day with a time of 2:04.90. The time is only one second off the best 2009-10 time.
Schwiger then won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:03.59, the best time of any Ranger from a season ago. In her final race of the day she took home the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:29.55, crushing a Drew best from a season ago by nearly 40 seconds.
The Rangers had two other first place finishes on the afternoon. Bader, another freshman, had quite the debut herself as she went on to win the second women's event, the 1000 Free by nearly six seconds. Harrington, the third Ranger newcomer, collected her first win at the collegiate level in the 100 back by almost seven seconds.
The Drew women would go on to drop the overall meet to the Roadrunners 113.5-89.5. The Rangers will open their home schedule on Friday when they host Montclair St. at 6:00 PM.
