MADISON, N.J. (October 3, 2011) –
Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) broke a scoreless tie in the 68
th minute to aid the Rangers in a 2-0 victory over Rutgers-Newark (3-10) earlier this evening. For the Rangers, it was their second win in three days as they improve to 4-7 on the year.
The Rangers emerged victorious in the first ever meeting between the two squads tonight after a defensive battle at Ranger Stadium. Coming into the contest the Scarlet Raiders had given up 19 goals in their previous three games in New Jersey Athletic Conference play. Tonight's contest did not provide as many fireworks, with the two teams playing scoreless soccer for the majority of the night.

Agata Dera (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) played the first 45 minutes and made three saves in the first half. Her Scarlet Raider counterpart, Victoria Nunez, played all 90 minutes in the net and made nine stops in the loss. Sophomore
Jeramie Barletta was credited with her fourth win of the year after making two saves in relief of Dera in the second half.
Drew was able to add the final goal in the 80
th minute when
Emily Weida (Lancaster Pa./Lancaster Country Day) registered her fifth goal of the year off a pass from
Abby Dingle (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen). The assist was Dingle's first point of the fall.
The Rangers will be back in action this Sunday as they return to Landmark Conference play. Drew will host Goucher at 1:00 in the first game of the men's and women's doubleheader.
