STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (January 28, 2012) – The Rangers fenced against three of the country's top 10 teams this afternoon at the Penn State Invitational. Top-ranked Penn State, #7 Pennsylvania and #8 Duke all bested the Rangers, knocking their overall record down to 8-7 on the year.
The Rangers put their best fight up against the only unranked team in the field, North Carolina, losing 16-11. Duke and Pennsylvania came away with 23-4 victories while Penn State clobbered the visiting Rangers, 25-2.
Drew's foil picked up the only weapon win, with a 6-3 victory against North Carolina. Sophomore 
James Weiss (Somers, N.Y./Somers) and 
Richard Chiu (Boonton Twp., N.J./Mountain Lakes) each had four wins at the foil to lead the Rangers.
Senior 
Jacob Hazle-Cary (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford Senior) had a team high four wins at the sabre. Freshman 
Charlie Dobbins (Durham, N.C./Durham School of the Arts) lone victory of the day came against NCAA qualifier Michael Mills of the University of Pennsylvania.
The Rangers will travel to Yale University on February 4
th in their next bout.
