EASTON, Pa. (November 18, 2012) – The Drew Men's fencing team finally got on the strip this weekend after two cancelled meets and emerged with four victories at the annual MACFA A vs. B hosted by Lafayette College. The Rangers captured victories over Army, NJIT, Yeshiva and Hunter College on a 4-1 day.

The closest bouts of the day came against fellow New Jersey schools NJIT and Stevens. The Rangers squeaked past NJIT by the score of 14-13. In the only loss of the day Drew fell to Stevens 14-13 despite a 6-3 win in the foil. The Rangers posted 20 wins against both Yeshiva and Hunter and edged Army 15-12.

The foil, which has been a strong point in recent years, continued its dominance with a perfect 5-0 afternoon. Leading the charge for the Rangers was junior James Weiss (Somers, N.J./Somers) who went 12-1 and in the process captured his 100th career victory. The two-time team Most Valuable Player now has a career mark of 100-18.

Sophomore John Luke Bucuvalas (Conifer, Colo./Conifer) also helped the Drew foil by recording 10 wins and three losses on the afternoon. As a foil team, the Rangers held a 37-8 advantage over their opponents.

Second-year sabrist Mark Lessner (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Regis Jesuit) helped the men's sabre to a 4-1 afternoon by posting a team-high 10 wins.

The Rangers will go heads up with NYU in a rescheduled dual meet on Thursday November 29th in New York City.
