Box Score MADISON, N.J. (September 1, 2012) – A winner could not be decided as Arcadia (1-0-1) and Drew (1-0-1) played to a 1-1 draw this afternoon in the final day The 29
th Annual Drew Fall Festival. The Knights win the 2012 title based on tournament goal differential after a 3-0 win in yesterday's game against Western Connecticut.
The Rangers looked to be well on their way to their 17
th Fall Fest championship in the first half as they struck first in the 37
th minute. Senior
Thomas Quirk (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) took a free kick just inside the midfield line and lofted a perfect ball to the head of
Daniel Ratyniak (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) for the game's first goal.
Despite trailing in the shot totals all game, Arcadia capitalized on the most important shot of the game taken by Nick Morris in the 73
rd minute. Morris was able to flip in a cross sent by David Columbo to tie the game up at one. The goal was the second of the tournament for Morris, earning him Fall Festival Offensive MVP honors.
Drew fired off 12 shots in the second half alone and outshot the Arcadia 6-2 in the overtime periods. For the game the Rangers held a 25-11 advantage in shots.
Arcadia goalkeeper, Ryan Lantzy, played all 90 minutes and made five saves on the day. The junior netminder took home Fall Fest Defensive MVP honors, allowing just one goal in 200 minutes of play.
In three appearances all-time, Arcadia improves to 2-1-2 at Fall Fest while Drew improves to 41-7-7.
The Rangers will be back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Hoboken, N.J. to take on the 7
th ranked Ducks of Stevens Tech. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
