MADISON, N.J. (Oct. 28, 2014) – In coordination with National Diabetes Awareness Month in November, the Drew University men's and women's soccer teams are hosting a Diabetes Awareness doubleheader on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Moravian College at Ranger Stadium.
Drew will charge an optional admission at the gates for both the men's game starting at 1:00 p.m. and the women's match at 3:30 p.m. Fans, family and friends may donate any amount they wish as admission into the two regular season soccer finales, both having significant Landmark Conference playoff implications.
It is with a heavy heart that the Rangers dedicate the day and all donations in the name of Melissa Renahan, the late wife of Major Tim Renahan and daughter-in-law of Drew Athletics business manager
Rosemari Renahan. Melissa passed away suddenly at the age of 36 on October 14. All proceeds from Saturday's benefit will be donated to the American Diabetes Association in Melissa and Tim Renahan's name.
The Moravian College men's and women's soccer teams have generously chosen to participate in Diabetes Awareness Day by donating their travel meal money for the day to the cause.
The men's squad (8-5-5, 4-2-1) is celebrating Senior Day against Moravian with pregame festivities set to begin at 12:50 p.m. and game time set for 1:00 p.m. The Rangers can still enter the Landmark Conference playoffs with a loss on Saturday, but control their own fate as a win or a tie against the Greyhounds will clinch a postseason berth. The women's team (5-10, 2-3) must win against Moravian to gain the fourth and final playoff spot in the Landmark Tournament, set to begin for both the men and women on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the homes of the higher seeds.
