MADISON, N.J. (Nov. 7, 2014) – The Drew University men's and women's swimming teams posted a dozen lifetime best times on Friday evening in a pair of dual meet losses to Montclair State University at the F.M. Kirby Pool.
The women, paced by a first place performance by sophomore
Jordan Jessup in the 100-yard freestyle, dropped a 139-95 decision to the Red Hawks. The men were led by a first place swim by junior
Mike Smoliga in the 50-yard freestyle, and fell to Montclair State 158-93 in the dual.
Jessup turned in a new lifetime best in the 100 free, hitting the wall at 58.39 seconds. That mark enters her into the Drew women's top 15 time of all-time chart in the 15
th position.
On the men's side, Smoliga's 23.76 second run in the 50 free notched the Rangers nine points and went down as the junior's career best time.
Sophomore
Logan Amodio continued his dominance in the butterfly against the Red Hawks, winning his heat in the 50-yard sprint after hitting the wall at 25.89 seconds. The sensational sophomore has yet to be beat in the butterfly during a dual meet this season.
Freshman
Jenny Stein continued her hot start to her rookie campaign with a new personal record in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday. Her time of 1:05.44 was good for first place in the event by five-tenths of a second. One women's event later, sophomore
Lindsay Pearce picked up the women's third first place finish of the day with a 1:12.33 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Rangers turned in a trio of fast times in the 500-yard freestyle event on Friday night. Sophomore
Christopher Worden came in third of six swimmers in the event with a new lifetime best mark of 6:11.95. Freshman
Mitchell Fry also set a personal record in the 500 free at 6:38.29. In the women's lanes, freshman
Payton Hakes set a new career best by stopping the clock at 6:14.93.
