Results

INDIANAPOLIS –
Mal Vishwanath (Bangalore, India) broke the Drew University and Landmark Conference record in the 200 yard freestyle during day two of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium on Thursday.  Seeded 30th in the event, she finished 23rd overall with a time of 1:52.40, just .04 seconds ahead of her previous program standard.

The first Drew swimmer to participate in the NCAA Championships since Lauren Kenworthy in 1999, she began the competition on Wednesday with the 500 yard freestyle.  Vishwanath, who had the 28th-best time in the event coming in, placed 22nd with a 5:02.05 clocking.

She has one more event remaining on her NCAA Championships schedule.  Vishwanath will contest her best event—the 1650 yard freestyle—on Saturday.  Her school-record time of 17:09.51 earlier this season earned her the No. 17 seed in the 1650 freestyle.
