MAHWAH, N.J. - The Drew University women's swimming & diving team cruised to a pair of victories at Ramapo College on Saturday to even their record at 2-2.
The Rangers defeated the host Roadrunners 158-92, and they also downed St. Joseph's-Brooklyn by a count of 186-32.
Drew captured 11 of 14 events and was led by senior
Mal Vishwanath, senior
Katie Jefferson, freshman
Katie Cashin, and sophomore
Maria Garcia Hynds, who won a pair of individual events each.
Vishwanath breezed to a 55-second victory in the 1,000-freestyle (10:57.97), and she also won the 100-freestyle (55.01). Jefferson prevailed in both the 200-freestyle (2:05.25) and the 200-IM (2:19.21) while Cashin claimed the 200-butterfly (2:11.95) and the 500-freestyle (5:38.36). Garcia Hynds touched first in both the 50-freestyle (55.01) and the 100-butterfly (1:01.65).
Senior
Stephanie Cushman added a victory in the 200-backstroke (2:18.35).
The Rangers finished 1-2 in six events. Earning runner-up performances were freshman
Grace Aboussleman in both the 50-free (26.88) and the 100-free (59.01); sophomore
Abby Shapiro in the 200-free 92:08.25); Jefferson in the 200-back (2:18.98), sophomore
Sydney Everhart in the 100-fly (1:02.64) and Cushman in the 200-IM (2:27.82).
Drew also swept the two relays. Winning th 200-medley were Cushman, Vishwanath, Cashin, and Garcia Hynds (1:56.07) while Cushman, Garcia Hynds, Shapiro, and Vishwanath captured the 400-freestyle in 3:51.54.
The Rangers continue their season Nov. 8-9 at the NYU Invitational.
