TOWSON, Md. - Junior guard
David Gervase has been selected as the Landmark Conference (LC) Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
Gervase averaged 22.0 points per game coming off the bench to help lead the Rangers to a series sweep of Juniata. Playing just 24.5 minutes per game, he shot 52.0% from the field and 77.8% (14-18) at the foul line. Gervase opened the week with some clutch play in a 72-69 overtime victory at Juniata, where he scored 18 points, including the first six in Drew's game-ending 8-0 run that erased a five-point OT deficit. He followed up with a 26-point showing in the Rangers' 68-65 home victory over the Eagles. Gervase erupted for 17 first-half points to help stake the Rangers to a 37-15 halftime lead. He finished 8-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
For the season, Gervase is tied for the team lead in both scoring (15.4 ppg) and 3-pointers made (eight). In addition, he leads the Rangers in field-goal percentage at even 50.0%.
The Rangers (4-1, 4-1 LC) return to Landmark Conference action on Wednesday, when they travel to Catholic University for a makeup game starting at 5 p.m.
