Men's Basketball Captures Academic Honors

NABC Team Academic Excellence Award | NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Drew University men's basketball team has earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for 2020-21 season.

In addition, rising seniors Kyle Cassidy, Drew Gallagher, David Gervase, and Kevin Griffith have been named to the NABC Honors Court.

The Team Academic Excellence Award, now in its ninth year, recognizes all NCAA, NAIA, and two-year colleges that maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better during the previous season.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically, a member of the varsity team, hold a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, have matriculated at least one year at their current institution, and be a member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I institution with an NABC member coach.

The Rangers are coming off a banner season in 2020-21, when they captured the team's first-ever Landmark Conference title with an overtime victory over the University of Scranton in the conference championship game. The squad finished an abbreviated season with a 7-2 record, including a 4-1 mark in Landmark Conference play.
