Broccoli Making 11-Day Coaching Tour in Italy

MADISON, N.J. - Drew University Director of Volleyball Alyssa Broccoli is leading a cast of collegiate women's volleyball standouts on a tour to Italy.

Broccoli and 14 players from around the country are representing Beyond Sports on an 11-day trip that lasts through July 16 and will include six matches versus teams from Roma, Verona and Como.

The team is represented by players from 13 different colleges and universities from 11 different home states.

"I am extremely grateful and humbled to be selected to travel to Italy and coach a team of talented young women representing the United States," said Broccoli. "Beyond Sports has given this group of college athletes and me an opportunity of a lifetime to compete in the sport we love, all while providing a transformative and cultural experience."

This past year, Broccoli directed the Drew women's and men's volleyball teams to a successful inaugural season. As the head coach of the women's team, she guided the Rangers to an outstanding 19-9 record, including a pair of victories in Landmark Conference play. With her team nearly grabbing a spot in the conference playoffs, she was honored as the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year. Drew's men's team also enjoyed a strong debut campaign and finished with nine victories while posting a 5-3 mark on its home court.
