CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Drew University men's fencing team's epee squad finished 4-2 to lead the Rangers at the highly-competitive Northeastern Fencing Conference (NFC) Meet #2 on Sunday at Boston College.
The Rangers (21-15), competing for the first time in over two months, earned a 22-5 win over Dartmouth but were topped by MIT (20-7), Vassar (15-12), Boston College (16-11), Brandeis (18-9), and Brown (17-10).
Individually, junior
Julio Arias led Drew's epee unit, finishing 9-3 on the day while going 3-0 against both Vassar and Boston College to improve to 34-12 on the season. Sophomore
Danny Stevens added a 7-5 showing for the day while junior
Lorence Lukanyuk and freshman
Eddie Matto each went 6-3 while junior
Lucas Alfaiate finished 6-6, leading the Rangers to a cumulative epee record of 34-20.
Junior
Aiden Holmes led the way in sabre, posting a 7-4 record including a 2-1 mark against MIT, BC, and Brandeis to up his season record to 52-15. In foil, junior
Charles Daum, freshman
Henri Degremont, and sophomore
Aidan DeSola paced the Rangers with a 4-5 mark apiece while sophomore
Tristan Santulli added a 4-2 showing.
Drew continues its season on Sunday, Feb. 5, when it travels to Tufts University for the NFC Meet #3.
