MADISON, N.J. – Steve Leo has been named as an assistant men's and women's track & field coach at Drew University, which will compete in its inaugural season of varsity track & field under Head Coach Sean Robinson in 2023-24.
 
The first assistant coach to join Robinson's staff, Leo will serve as the sprints/jumps coach.
 
Leo is a veteran of the sport, as he has coached middle and high school track & field programs for the past 15 years, serving as the head coach for Gill St. Bernard's School for the past four seasons. He is currently a teacher at Gill, where he instructs courses such as Anatomy & Physiology, Exercise Science, and Physical Education and serves as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Upper School.
 
A graduate of Centenary University with a B.S. in Sports Management, Leo has also served as a speed and strength coach within the private sector for the past 25 years at the high school, collegiate, Olympic, and professional levels. He has provided speed and strength programs for multiple county and state champion track & field athletes throughout the past 20 years. Other notable athletes he has worked with include Tobin Heath (USA Soccer Gold Medalist), Greg Olsen (NFL veteran of 10 years), and Jack McBride (USA Lacrosse National Team). In 2011, Leo was hired to work with the New York Jets during their lockout.
 
Leo also owns and operates Leo Training Systems LLC, for which he coaches athletes and consults for sports performance companies such as Parisi Speed School, Vertimax, and High Intensity Track club.
