CHESTER, Pa. – Senior
Emily Camlet and junior
Zach Mogambi each won an event with a season-best performance to lead the Drew University track & field teams at the Widener University Last Chance Qualifier on Monday.
Camlet raced to victory in a field of 12 in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.01 seconds. She sliced 0.43 seconds off her previous season-best time and jumped to No. 26 on the current Division III performance list in the event. She also edged a pair of nationally-ranked competitors, defeating runner-up Jesma Evans of Washington & Lee University (56.53), who is ranked 28th, and third-place Sophia Pascale of Ursinus College (56.69), who is 27th.
With her victory, Camlet remained undefeated in seven 400-meter races this outdoor season.
Mogambi captured the discus with a launch of 50.19 meters (164-8), defeating 11 competitors and besting his nearest opponent by over four meters. It was Mogambi's second career throw of over 50 meters and his first such throw this season, and it moved him up to No. 31 on the Division III performance list for the year. His throw was also just .07 meters (three inches) shy of his own school and Landmark Conference record.
Junior
