LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Junior Kate Rice ran the fastest 6,000-meter cross country time in team history to lead the Drew University women's cross country team at the Rowan University Border Battle on Saturday at Gloucester Country Dream Park.

Rice clocked a time of 22 minutes, 19.4 seconds, trimming three seconds from the previous school record set by Jennifer Van Wingerden C'13 at the 2012 NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Championships.

Rice finished 23rd out of 260 runners while leading the Rangers to a 23rd-place finish among 31 teams.

All five of Drew's additional competitors also posted career-best times. Finishing second for the Rangers was sophomore Sarah Hattan, who placed 124th in 24:35. Senior Caitlin Mulvey took 150th in 25:07 while freshman April Kusnier came in 160th in 25:25. Freshman Deborah Wang completed the team scoring, taking 214th in 27:01.

Sophomore Ariana Vira also competed and placed 222nd in 27:22.
