POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Drew University women's fencing team competed in five matches at the highly-competitive Vassar College Invitational on Sunday.
The Rangers defeated both Yeshiva (27-0) and Lafayette (21-6) but lost to Brown (26-1), Tufts (24-3), and Vassar (15-12).
Drew posted its top performance in foil, finishing 3-2 while posting a cumulative record of 26-19. Sophomore

Bella Hatzoglu each finished 9-3 overall, and both went 3-0 against Vassar and Yesiva and 2-1 versus Lafayette. Sophomore
Tala Varoqua went 8-4 and also went 3-0 against Vassar and Yeshiva and 2-1 against Lafayette.
Both the epee and sabre units finished 2-3 for the day. In epee, freshman
Emily Varhaul paced the Rangers with a 5-8 mark and went 3-0 versus Yeshiva. First-years
Sabrina Holmes and
Ava Insinga each went 4-7 in sabre, with Holmes finishing 2-1 against Vassar.
The Rangers are back in action on Dec. 7, when they compete at the Brandeis Invitational.
