TOWSON, Md. – For the second time this season and the seventh time in his career, junior
Nicholas Heinio-Widell captured the Landmark Conference Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week award.
Heinio-Widell won two events and placed third in another to lead the Rangers at the NYU Invitational this past weekend. Taking on a highly-competitive field including swimmers from an NYU team that finished as the national runner-up last season, he won both the 50-freestyle (21.44) and the 100-freestyle (47.05). He beat out 22 competitors in the 50 while placing in front of 24 other swimmers in the 100.
In addition, Heinio-Widell placed third out of 14 swimmers in the 100-butterfly (51.24). He posted the fastest times in the Landmark Conference this season in both the 100-free and 100-fly and the second-best mark in the 50. Heinio-Widell also swam on four relay teams (200-free, 400-free, 200-medley, 400-medley) that recorded the quickest times in the conference for the season.
The Rangers continue their season on Friday, Nov. 21, when they host Montclair State University in a dual meet starting at 3:30 p.m.
