MADISON, N.J. – Highlighted by a one-point victory to close out the day, the Drew University men's fencing team finished 4-1 at a MACFA "A versus B" group event on Sunday at the Simon Forum.

The Rangers opened with wins over Hunter (26-1), Yeshiva (25-2), and Army (20-7) before dropping a 20-7 decision to NJIT. Drew closed out the day with a 14-13 win over Stevens, avenging a one-point loss to the Ducks at the Drew Invitational back on Nov. 2. The Rangers trailed Stevens 13-12 before posting a pair of victories in epee to win the match. Senior
Eddie Matto tied it with a 5-4 win before sophomore
Lupo Sala clinched it with a 5-1 triumph.

Drew's epee team finished the day 4-1 and posted a cumulative individual record of 33-12. Sala led the way with a 13-2 showing while going 3-0 against Hunter, Yeshiva, Army, and Stevens.

Matto added a 12-3 mark in epee and went 3-0 against Hunter, Yeshiva, and Stevens while freshman
Ben Koyfman went 6-3, including a 3-0 record against Yeshiva and a 2-0 mark versus Hunter.

Both the foil and sabre units finished 3-2, with foil posting a 31-14 individual record. Senior
Henri Degremont went 8-1 on the day, including a 2-0 record against Hunter, Yeshiva, and Army, while sophomore
Andrew Klyczek finished 11-4, going 3-0 versus Yeshiva and Army. Sophomore
Paul Greenleaf added an 8-6 showing and was 3-0 against both Hunter and Yeshiva and 2-0 versus Army.

In sabre, sophomore
Jason Ahlman led the way with a 9-5 record and was 3-0 against Hunter and Yeshiva. Freshman
Nalby Varoqua went 7-3, including 2-0 against Hunter, while junior
Logan Kleva posted a 7-6 mark, finishing 3-0 versus Hunter.

The Rangers are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 7, when they travel to Massachusetts for the Brandeis University Invitational.
