MADISON, N.J. – Senior foilist
Henri Degremont finished 28-2 and went undefeated over his last seven matches to lead to the Drew University men's fencing team at the Drew Invitational Saturday and Sunday in the Simon Forum.

As a team, the Rangers finished 7-4 over the two-day event. The squad went 4-0 on Saturday, topping Wheaton (Mass.) twice, winning 21-6, and 20-7. The squad also posted victories over Haverford (17-10) and Cornell (15-12).

On Sunday, Drew defeated Lafayette (20-7), Cleveland State (15-12), and Detroit Mercy (23-4). The Rangers were edged by a single point (14-13) versus both Stevens and Wagner while also falling to LIU (18-9) and Johns Hopkins (23-4).

Degremont capped the weekend with a perfect day on Sunday, finishing 18-0 while going 3-0 against Lafayette, LIU, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Stevens, and Wagner. He also posted a 3-0 mark in his last match of the day versus Wheaton and ended the tournament on a 23-bout winning streak.

Sophomore epee
Lupo Sala also turned in an outstanding performance for the Rangers. After placing 10th last weekend at Temple University's Nikkie Franke Classic, he followed up by finishing 24-5 for the weekend. He started by going 8-0 on Saturday, which included 3-0 showings versus both Haverford and Cornell. He then closed out the weekend with a 16-5 performance that included 3-0 marks against Lafayette, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, and Stevens.

Sala efforts helped the epee unit turn in an outstanding weekend, as they finished 10-1 while posting an aggregate record of 54-33. Seniors
Eddie Matto and
Will Morton went 11-12 and 10-7, respectively, while freshman
Ben Koyfman posted an 8-2 mark.

Led by Degremont, the foil team finished 5-6 for the weekend. Sophomores
Paul Greenleaf (8-13) and
Andrew Klyczek (8-16) posted eight victories apiece while classmate
Jason Sobon turned in a 7-8 effort.

The sabre squad also ended the weekend with a 5-6 ledger thanks in part to an impressive showing from freshman
Nalby Varoqua. He opened the tournament by going 11-1 on Saturday with a pair of 3-0 performances versus Wheaton and another against Haverford en route to a 21-10 record for the weekend. Junior
Logan Kleva (14-17) and sophomore
Jason Ahlman (12-19) were also in action.

Drew continues its season next Sunday at the Vassar College Invitational.
